Pizza Marinara

There is nothing like a homemade pizza-especially one that uses unique ingredients to create a culinary masterpiece the whole family can enjoy. Try this basic Pizza Marinara recipe either as it is written or dress it up with the addition of different ingredients to suit your individual taste.

Ingredients

    Pizza Dough

  • ¼ cup white wine
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 1 ½ ounces yeast
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 cupsall-purpose flour
Preparations
  • 1. Combine wine, water and yeast in a large bowl and stir until dissolved. Add the honey, salt and olive oil and mix thoroughly. Start by adding 1 cup of flour and make a wet paste. Add remaining flour and incorporate.
  • 2. Place dough on a lightly floured board and knead for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • 3. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a towel. Let rise for 45 minutes.

Makes 3-14" pizzas

Pizza Marinara

Ingredients
  • 4 plum tomatoes
  • 4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 teaspoons fresh oregano , roughly chopped
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, sliced thinly
Preparations
  • 1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  • 2. Prepare dough as directed.
  • 3. Thinly slice one tomato and place on dough.
  • 4. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil over entire pizza.
  • 5. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon oregano and 1 clove thinly sliced garlic over tomatoes.
  • 6. Bake on a pizza stone until crust is golden brown, about 15 minutes. Repeat with remaining dough. Serve hot.

Other topping suggestions for pizza: Prosciutto Crudo Arugula Sausage (do not pre-cook) Anchovy Broccoli Rape, blanched first.
